ABOUT US

VFW Post 5079 was founded in 1946 and proudly serves veterans throughout the Chicago Bridgeport community. As one of the remaining active VFW posts in the area, we provide a place where veterans of overseas conflicts can gather, connect, and support one another.

Our members represent multiple generations of service, from World War II veterans to those who have served in more recent conflicts. Through camaraderie, service, and community involvement, our Post continues to honor the legacy of those who served while supporting today’s veterans.

Become a Member

The Veterans of Foreign Wars is a service organization made up of combat veterans who have served our country overseas. To become a member, veterans must have served in a war, campaign, or expedition on foreign soil or in hostile waters.

VFW Post 5079 proudly welcomes all eligible veterans who are looking for fellowship, service opportunities, and a strong community of fellow service members.
